Sounds ballsier than it actually is – UK ISP, BT Broadband, deleted data on 20,000 out of 25,000 users involved in a file-sharing case with record label Ministry of Sound.
This is standard operating procedure for them, as they only retain data for 90 days. BT required assurance that Ministry of Sound would keep user info private, but the label did not follow through for months, and in that time, BT’s standard procedures kicked in and that data was removed permanently.┬áMinistry of Sound has dropped the request for the other 5,000 users and they have issued a statement affirming that they will continue to pursue illegal file-sharers.
