From Dusk Till Dawn is now a “Netflix Original Series”. Just like Breaking Bad‘s final season, the TV adaptation of Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s crime horror film will be available weekly on Netflix in the UK, Ireland, Canada, the Netherlands and the Nordics from 12 March, just 24-hours after it premieres on Rodriguez’s El Rey Network in America.

The TV adaptation sees DJ Cotrona and Zane Holtz step into the shoes of Seth and Richie Gecko, roles made famous by George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino on the big screen. The 10-episode series takes place over one night as the brothers attempt to evade Texas rangers Earl McGraw (Don Johnson) and Freddie Gonzalez (Jesse Garcia). Along the way they hijack an RV belonging to Jacob Fuller (Robert Patrick) and his family, before making their way to a fateful strip club…

Mesoamerican mythology will feature more heavily in the show than it did on screen, as showunner Carlos Coto told us. “They’re a little different than the vampires in the movie, and they have a much more interesting supernatural core…” You can read more from Coto here, and in SFX 246, on sale now.

“We’re thrilled to premiere From Dusk Till Dawn: A Netflix Original Series exclusively in our international markets,” says Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer at Netflix. “Robert Rodriguez is an amazing storyteller and we think our members will love his thrill-ride TV adaptation of the cult-classic.”

Robert Rodriguez says: “I am excited about working with Netflix and Miramax to build an international audience for our series. This property has always resonated for viewers around the globe and we believe that it will be just as relevant for this new generation of fans.”

From Dusk Till Dawn airs weekly on Netflix in the UK from 12 March.
