FTD Loses BREIN Case: What Does This Mean For You?

If you’re living in the Netherlands, you may have noticed that since Feb. 9th, FTD has stopped working. What does this mean for you?

The short version: Ye pirates are gonna have to find a new way to download stuff. Yarrr.
The long version: The court’s ruling says that FTD has facilitated and stimulated the illegal uploading of copyrighted material and must stop providing the locations of these illegal files. Although only 13 of FTD’s 500,000 users have been proven to be illegally sharing files, they decided the entire site must come down. The maximum penalty would be about $410,000, and so FTD decided to shut down entirely.
Are they justified or is this a case of punishing the whole class for one troublemaker’s mistakes?
